Function
The device function within the SICK network in multiplexer/server operating mode is speci-
fied via the
• S
ERVER
: The reading device sends its reading results to the multiplexer. In relation to the
object trigger and reading process, the device functions independently with its own photo-
electric switch at the digital input (sensor 1).
• M
ULTIPLEXER
: The multiplexer sends the server's reading results to the PLC in a configured
output format. The device ID is included with the reading results so that they can be assi-
gned to devices. In addition to its multiplexer function, the device can also be used as a rea-
ding device with its own photoelectric switch.
5.10.3.2
Server list
The server's device IDs that are connected to the multiplexer device are entered via the
parameter. The device IDs are separated by commas. Up to 31 servers can be
entered for one multiplexer.
The input field is highlighted in red if the input is invalid.
5.10.4
Monitoring
The CAN network monitoring function is activated and configured in the
group.
5.10.4.1
Assign to
The monitoring function in the CAN network for the reading device is activated or deactiva-
ted via the
• D
EACTIVATED
: The device monitors no further reading devices.
• CAN: The reading device monitors further reading devices on the CAN bus. The monitoring
device detects the participants within reach and the devices that have failed.
5.10.4.2
Monitored devices
The participant's device IDs that are to be monitored by the reading device are entered via
the
parameter. The device IDs are separated by commas.
The input field is highlighted in red if the input is invalid.
5.10.4.3
Max. startup time for the monitored devices
The
Max. startup time for the monitored devices
parameter defines an interval in seconds
for the startup time for the monitored devices. A participant is considered within reach when
the interval between the signals that have been sent is within the specified period.
5.10.5
Serial
tab contains all of the parameters for configuring the serial host and aux inter-
faces. The serial host interface is typically used to communicate with the control (PLC). The
serial aux interface is used to configure the reading device separately.
5.10.5.1
Serial Host
The
group contains the parameters for configuring the serial Host interface. The
serial Host interface is typically used for communication with the controller (PLC).
