Preparations
(1)
Install hose connectors on the [VACUUM]
and [LEAK] ports on the back of the
instrument.
•
Push them in until they click into place.
•
To the [VACUUM] hose port, connect the
hose from a pump or other equipment for
evacuating the bell jar.
•
To the [LEAK] hose port, connect the hose
from an inert gas cylinder or other source,
depending on the intended objectives.
< CAUTION >
*
Evacuation, releasing the vacuum to the
atmosphere, injecting inert gas, and other
such operations are not possible without
installing the hose connectors.
*
If using a cylinder to supply inert gases, use
a pressure regulator valve for safety.
*
To disconnect hose connectors after use,
pull them out while holding the [VACUUM]
port (or [LEAK] port). Beware that doing so
can cause the hose connector to pop out
with considerable force.
(2)
Apply a thin coating of silicone grease provided with the O-ring seal (See page 8.).
< CAUTION >
*
If the silicone grease wears off and a vacuum is maintained for a long time, the bell jar can
become stuck to the O-ring, making it difficult to remove.
