Problem
Checks / Corrective Action
- If using Serial-Ethernet server, check virtual com port
software
- Check modem settings if connected
- Connect Oryx direct to serial port of computer
- Re-scan for Oryx devices (Probe Com port, Figure 12)
- Check power supply to Oryx
Frequent
communications
errors
- Reduce baud rate on Oryx & rescan for Oryx
- If using modem/router, check line quality or signal strength
COM port not listed
on computer
- Check virtual COM port software application lists the COM
port & is active
- Re-boot computer
Oryx date-time
incorrect
- Re-boot computer and then synchronise the Oryx date-
time
Should a fault need to be reported to Sensornet, please include the following (if
possible):
1. The Oryx serial number
2. A full description of the fault
3. An example *.ddf file of good data before the fault occurred
4. Example *.ddf and *.raw files with the fault occurring
5. The “Main log.txt”
6. The “Oryx System Log.txt” from the Oryx in question
7. The current configuration file (*.cfg) located in “…/Full Data Set/<name>”
