Food Stamp Tender
In the United States, Food Stamps
(or EBT)
may be used to purchase eligible food items at food stores that
participate in the program. The Sam4POS can assist a retailer in handling food stamp transactions by
sorting food stamp and non-food stamp eligible items within each sale and tracking food stamp payments
for eligible items.
Food Stamp transactions may be set up for processing through the Sam4POS terminal with the integrated
Datacap equipment. Check with your installing dealer for details.

; This is the maximum amount accepted when this tender is
used. For example, as a store policy you may only accept food stamp amounts up to $50; You would
set the HALO as 50.00.
TAX EXEMPT
Use this setting to exempt the specified tax rates (1-10) when food stamps are redeemed.
DRAWER
Open Drawer –
This is option is selected by default, uncheck this option only if you do not want to
open the cash drawer when this tender is used.
FOODSTAMP TENDER
Allow Over-Tender
– Set this option only if you want to allow food stamp tender amounts over the
food stamp total.
Allow Decimal Entry
– Set this option to allow change amounts to be entered
(i.e. 12.37), if not set only whole dollar amounts are accepted (i.e. 12.00).
Change Type
– Choose the change type to be issued when over-tender is allowed;
Change In Cash or Change In Food Stamp.
Connect EFT Terminal –
Set this option if you are using the integrated Datacap device for EBT/Food
Stamp transactions.
TIP Charge Keys
TIP Charge keys are optional; they are used with check tracking operations only. The TIP key is used to
enter a gratuity on a check prior to finalization.
