4.- OPERATION.
4.1.- Introduction.
This chapter describes all the control devices of the UPS at the user disposal to use the system properly. The UPS can be running
under one of the following operating modes:
•
Normal mode.
The UPS feeds the load. The UPS is running normally and uses the input mains to fed the loads and to
recharge the batteries. This operating mode guarantees the non-interrupted power supply to the loads.
•
Internal automatic bypass mode.
The load is fed by the mains. In case of failure and/or inverter overload, the power
supply of the loads is guaranteed thanks to the bypass line (reserve). This operating mode doesn’t guarantee the non-
interrupted power supply to the loads.
•
Maintenance bypass mode.
The UPS is shutdown. The load is connected directly to the mains through the maintenance
or emergency bypass line. This operating mode doesn’t guarantee the non-interrupted power supply to the loads.
•
Battery mode.
The UPS feds the load. The UPS is running and uses the batteries to fed the loads because there is a mains
failure. This operating mode guarantees the non-interrupted power supply of the loads till the end of autonomy.
4.2.- Power switches.
The power switches of the UPS are located behind the right front door and they have been installed vertically in the following
order (see fig. 4.3):
•
Input mains switch (I1):
It connects the UPS with the input mains.
•
Output switch (I4):
It connects the UPS with the critical loads.
•
Input bypass switch (reserve) (I2):
It connects the UPS with the bypass mains (reserve).
•
Manual bypass switch (I3):
It allows excluding the UPS by keeping the LOADS fed the mains. It is protected by a
mechanical lock (padlock) to avoid accidental manoeuvers.
All the power switches of the UPS have been described less the battery one,
which is located in the battery cabinet, out
from the UPS cabinet.
To isolate the equipment completely from hazardous voltages, the battery SWITCH must be turned OFF, although
it is not located in the cabinet.
Likewise, remind you that there are charged capacitors inside the converters stages, therefore you must wait
