Configuring the Access Point
Configuring for Management by ZoneDirector
Step 1: Connect the Cables to the Access Point
The procedure for connecting cables to the AP depends on the power source that you will
be using. You can do one of the following:
■
Use AC Power
■
Use Power Over Ethernet
NOTE:
You only need to connect one type of power source at this point, even if you are
planning to use both PoE and AC power in your final deployment.
Use AC Power
To use AC to power the AP, you need to assemble the AC power cable connector, and
then plug it into the AC power socket on the AP. To complete this task, you will need:
■
An outdoor-rated three-wire AC cable (14-18 AWG) that is long enough to connect the
AP (at its mounting location) with the AC power source.
■
A small screwdriver
■
A pair of long nose pliers
To assemble the AC cord connector and supply AC power to the AP
1.
Remove the small plastic bag that contains the AC cable connector from the AP
package.
2.
Separate the AC cable connector parts by unscrewing the boot from the cable gland
and the cable gland from the connector housing.
3.
Feed the end of the AC cable through the boot and cable gland.
4.
Strip the AC cable for about 4-5mm and each of the three conductors for about 7/32”.
