Connection Guidelines
Power Cells
Verify that you have selected the correct supporting devices based on power
cell rating before performing the procedures described in this section.
Figure 73 - Equipment Connection for Reforming Outside VFD
Energize the power cells
1. Connect the wires as shown in
. Add a circuit breaker (MCB)
between the power supply and the voltage regulator. Connect the
secondary winding of the voltage regulator to the three-phase input of
the power cell.
2. Close the MCB and turn on the voltage regulator. Bring up the input
voltage slowly to 100% of the power cell's voltage rating. Maintain 100%
voltage for 1…2 hours.
3. Once this procedure is complete, decrease the voltage source to 0V and
open the MCB. Disconnect the voltage regulator from the VFD and the
power supply. Return wire connections to its original configuration after
the power cell has fully discharged.
Reform the power cells
1. Connect the wires as shown in
. Add a circuit breaker (MCB)
between the power supply and the voltage regulator. Connect the
secondary winding of the voltage regulator to the three-phase input of
the power cell.
2. Close the MCB and turn on the voltage regulator. Bring up the input
voltage slowly to 30% of the power cell's voltage rating. Maintain 30%
voltage for five minutes. The reforming time and voltage percentage
curve is shown in
.
WARNING:
The power cell must be isolated from ground and any personnel. Do
not connect any wiring to the power cell output.
WARNING:
During this step, monitor and check for any abnormalities. If
any abnormalities occur, turn off the MCB immediately.
WARNING:
If abnormalities occur, verify the connections as described in
Step 1. Verify that the power cell fuse is in good condition and record any
abnormality. Contact a Rockwell Automation field support engineer for
assistance.
WARNING:
During this step, monitor and check for any abnormalities. If
any abnormalities occur, turn off the MCB immediately.
