Appendix E Spare Parts Storage

Guidelines for Inspection

After Extended Shutdown or

Storage

If the drive and components have undergone an extended shutdown or period
of storage, perform these inspections on the drive and components before
drive startup. For more information on checks and maintenance, see

Preventative Maintenance and Component Replacement on page 83

Visual Inspection

Visually inspect the drive for damage of electrical components before starting
up the drive.

•

Inspect all drive sections for nesting and debris.

•

Inspect the drive structure and power connections as described in

Physical Checks (No Medium Voltage or Control Power) on page 85

•

Reset the real-time clock.

If you observe any damage, follow the recommendations that are described in

Preventative Maintenance and Component Replacement on page 83

Cooling Fans

Verify that the cooling fans can rotate freely before starting up the drive.

Control Circuits

Control Power

Apply control power in stages to detect and isolate any potential damage that
may have occurred during the extended shutdown or storage.

Firmware

Upon drive startup, check for any new firmware revisions. Verify compatibility
before you upgrade the drive to a new firmware revision. You can download
firmware revisions from the Rockwell Automation Product Compatibility and
Download Center (PCDC) at

Interlocks

Inspect the contactor/isolator interlocks and door interlocks for physical
damage and verify that they operate correctly.
