Chapter 2 Drive System Layout
Synchronous Transfer
Synchronous transfer is an optional feature of the PowerFlex 6000 drive,
which allows either a single or multi-motor application to be transferred
between the drive, and a fixed frequency supply in either direction without
stopping and with a very short to no interruption of power. At the moment of
transfer between the VFD source and the utility source, the motor stator
voltage is perfectly aligned, the outgoing VFD source and incoming utility
source are in-phase; the waveforms are synchronized. Compared to a non-
synchronous transfer in which power to the motor is interrupted for a
significant length of time, the transient drop in motor speed is much less with
synchronous transfer.
The PowerFlex 6000 drive can start up to 10 motors on one drive utilizing a
‘bumpless’ transfer that is available with and without an output reactor. See
for configuration details.

Operator Interface
The human machine interface (HMI) board is an HIM-enabling device for the
PowerFlex 6000 drive. The board lets you acquire all the necessary executable
tools, documentation, and reports required to commission, troubleshoot, and
maintain the drive.
IMPORTANT
Any references to HIM refers to the eHIM integrated touch screen
display (shipped from 2022).
