USE OF “DOUBLE DROP TRAILERS”:
1.
Double drop trailers, such as moving van trailers, that do not provide
adequate clearance for the upper chock of the WHEEL-LOK
™
restraint WILL REQUIRE reduced height barriers. (See Figure D.)

VEHICLES WITH LIFT GATE
1.
Lift gates may have to be raised to provide the proper ground clearance (8-1/2" minimum) off the driveway to
clear the WHEEL-LOK
™
restraint during back-in or pull-out. Required minimum ground clearance, from the
driveway to the lowest point of the vehicle, must be strictly adhered to or damage to the lift gate or WHEEL-LOK
™
restraint may occur. Lift gates that have more than 8-1/2" of clearance, from the driveway to the lowest point of
the vehicle, need not be raised during back-in or pull-out. (See Figure E.)
2.
The lift gate can be lowered, as needed, after the vehicle is against the dock bumpers. There is an 11" horizontal
clearance, from the face of the bumper to the back of the WHEEL-LOK
™
restraint motor box, for the lift gate to
drop down.

DRIVEWAY FLOODING
1.
Driveway flooding will prevent the WHEEL-LOK
™
restraint from operation due to an integral float switch located in
the motor box on the WHEEL-LOK
™
restraint. The unit will return to normal operable condition after the flood
water has receded. Excessive flooding may require additional planned maintenance.
DRIVEWAY DEBRIS
1.
Excessive driveway debris (i.e., 2" x 4" lumber) must be removed to ensure proper operation.
SNOW REMOVAL AND ICE BUILD-UP
1.
Although the WHEEL-LOK
™
restraint will operate in fresh snowfall, periodic removal of snow and ice, in the sled
travel path, is required. Discontinuities in the sled travel path greater than 1" in depth may result in failure to
restrain the vehicle, and in severe cases of ice build-up greater than 2-1/2" in depth, erroneous lock
communication may occur.
2.
Snow removal may be accomplished by back dragging the snow alongside the track. This is typically
accomplished by temporarily storing the sled at the dock face position and then removing the snow. After snow
removal is completed, the sled must be returned to the normal stored position, away from the dock face. Since
the WHEEL-LOK
™
restraint is corrosion protected, salt may be used to control against ice build-up.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
1.
Vehicle/Trailer wheels and landing gear (if used) must be firmly set on the driveway approach during engagement
of the WHEEL-LOK™ restraint sled and during vehicle servicing at the loading dock.
