In addition to the lights, there are four instruction signs.
The sign located over the control box reads
“CAUTION: ENTER ON GREEN LIGHT ONLY!” There
are three large outside signs. The first two signs read
“CAUTION: BACK IN OR PULL OUT ON GREEN
LIGHT ONLY!” One sign contains the words reading the
normal way. The other sign is a mirror image that can be
read when looking into the rear view mirrors of the truck.
The third sign advises the truck driver and personnel in
the driveway of safe and proper system operation
procedures.
Once the truck/trailer is parked, the inside operator will
press the LOCK button, and the warning horn on the out-
side of the building sounds to warn personnel around the
outside of the truck/trailer that the sled is moving. The
sled starts to move towards the rear wheels of the
truck/trailer and the outside light changes to flashing
RED. DO NOT pull out! As soon as the barriers are
properly engaged, the inside light changes from red to
GREEN flashing ready to service.
A proper barrier engagement is achieved when the
unobstructed barrier raises to fully trap the rear wheel
assembly. See Figure 2.
After the service has been completed, the operator
presses the UNLOCK button which sounds the warning
horn outside of the building. As soon as the UNLOCK
button has been pressed, the inside lights change from
GREEN to RED and the sled moves towards the front of
the truck/trailer. As the sled moves forward (away from
the tires), the barriers return to the normal, flat stored
position. The sled will continue to move forward until it
reaches the end of the track. When the sled has
completed the travel cycle, the outside light changes
from RED to GREEN.
