1. OVERVIEW
Elite Liferafts are designed for coastal or offshore use and are available in 4, 6, and 8 person
capacities.
The Offshore Elite is composed of two large independent buoyancy tubes, a dual layer floor, an
automatically erecting canopy, and a boarding ramp. The Coastal and Aero Elites are composed
of one oversized buoyancy tube, a dual layer floor, an automatically erecting canopy, and a
boarding ladder. All rafts are constructed of a urethane-coated nylon fabric; yellow for inflatable
structures and orange for the canopy. While the tubes, ramp, and canopy are made from a single
layer of fabric, the floor is constructed from two separate layers. This allows for inflation and
provides additional insulation for occupants. To help stabilize the raft in rough weather, 4 ballast
pockets are attached to the underside of the floor.
The fabric canopy is supported by an arch-tube which is inflated via a non-return transfer valve
fitted into the upper buoyancy tube. This valve protects the buoyancy tube from deflation if the
arch-tube accidentally gets punctured. The canopy provides all-weather protection and
incorporates a zippered window and door. Additional features are a rainwater catching system,
reflective tape, flashing strobe light, and a knife pocket.
Elite Liferafts come fully equipped with external life lines and internal grasp lines, a sea anchor, a
righting line, stowage pockets, a heaving line complete with quoit, and other necessary items of
equipment. Survival equipment is contained in emergency packs stowed with the liferaft (See
additional section for details).
All Elite Liferafts are inflated using a high pressure carbon dioxide and nitrogen (CO
2
and N
2
) gas
by means of an integral inflation system. The gas is stored in a cylinder which is stowed in an
outside holder at the rear of the life raft (See additional section for details).
Each liferaft, once deflated and folded, is vacuum packed as a self contained unit in either a red
vinyl coated polyester valise bag (IPL Fig. 1, Items 70-70E), or a white fiberglass container (IPL
Fig. 1, Items 160/170). These cases are marked with important information such as inflation
instructions, capacity, serial no. of unit, model type, manufacturer’s address, and date of next
service. These life rafts are packed in way to protect your raft until needed and to insure the
activation painterline is easily located for efficient deployment (See Fig. 3)
