Operation
Selecting the 'Control data ranges being compared' button opens a screen displaying histograms for
the Reference and Compared volumes on the left-hand side of the screen (Figure 26). Layers from two
different volumes are being compared.
The histogram tools are very similar to those in 'Control displayed data' tools, Section 10.3.2.3. The
range of data to be used in the comparison can be altered by adjusting the palette slider and the
fine increment/decrement buttons on either side of it. The currently selected data ranges from each
histogram are both displayed on the plot on the right side of the screen. This plot updates dynamically
as the palette sliders are adjusted. The aim is to adjust the sliders so that the white and red histograms
are as similar as possible.
Examples of useful comparisons are:
•
Neighbouring layers within the same volume
•
Equivalent layers for different builds of the same part(s)
•
Equivalent layers for the same build but different sensors, e.g. comparing the two MeltVIEW
sensors (Photodiode 1 and Photodiode 2)
Note: It is advised to only compare volumes that have the same pixel size, only compare 'Sum'
volumes or 'Maximum' volumes.
