SHACKLE "M" CARBIDE FLAIL
BLADE MAINTENANCE _______________
Inspect the blades for free movement prior to using this mower.
When, you replace blades they must be replaced as opposed pairs (B) to maintain balance.
When fitting blades, tighten the nut (C) first until finger tight then torque to 9.9 Nm (7.3 ft.lb).
Inspecting flail blades
Inspect the blades in accordance with the maintenance chart or when the cutting Implement is removed from the
mower, carefully inspect the blades to make sure the blades are in good condition. Replace any blade that has
bends, grooves, cracked or blunt.
WARNING
Inspect and replace immediately any flails, lugs and retaining hardware that show any indication of cracks,
heavy damage or more than expected wear. Failure to replace damaged parts can cause parts
to be thrown out without warning. More than expected wear or damaged parts will unbalance the rotor
and cause lasting damage. When you operate with an unbalanced rotor it will cause accelerated
wear, increased vibration.
WARNING
When the cutting unit is lifted in the transport position to do maintenance procedures,
always engage the transport locks.
WARNING
When you replace flails, always fit new hardware (supplied with blade kit), because hardware
can be worn and damaged.
The use of worn hardware can cause unpredictable failure or thrown objects
CAUTION
Be careful when you check blades to prevent pinching hands and fingers.
WARNING
Never try to correct or repair a damaged blade. Always replace a damaged blade.
The bends, grooves or cracks can cause a piece of the blade to become loose and be discharged from the
mower. The broken blade pieces can cause injury to persons or property damage.
