Adjusting the friction torque limiter
WARNING
Do no touch the moving components. Before pressing the UP (lift) button on
the pendant controller, check that there is nothing that is in contact with the
locking nut (for example, a key).
CAUTION
When the friction torque limiter is being adjusted, the motor must not be
running. Always turn off the power from the hoist before starting to operate
with the adjusting tools.
Note:
The static value of the factory setting is 1.3
–1.5 x the nominal load. The value depends on the hoisting
speed. Once the hoist has been in use, the linings set and the static loading is reduced.
Note:
To adjust the friction torque limiter, it is recommended to use the chain force measuring device, for
example the
ChainQ
tool. Nevertheless, it is possible to use loads as well for the adjustment.
1
2
Hook a load of 1.25 x the nominal capacity of the hoist.
Note: Certain regulations, such as the European EN
standard, require only a 1.1 x the nominal capacity for the
dynamic testing.
Try to lift the load with slow and fast speed. If the hoist
cannot lift the load, remove the load, turn off the power
from the hoist and proceed to step 3.
If the hoist is able to lift the test load, proceed to step 6,
phase 2 (testing with a maximum load of 1.6 x the
nominal capacity of the hoist).

4
Unscrew the four fixing screws of the cover plate and
remove the cover. Leave it hanging on the strip.
Loosen the locking nut with a pipe key.
