Removing and replacing the DXi6900 G2 Node chassis includes the following steps:

Removing a Failed Node Chassis

To remove the DXi6900 G2 Node chassis:

1. Shut down the system (see 

Turning Off the DXi6900 G2 on page 23

).

2. Remove the Node from the rack (see 

Opening and Closing the Node on page 64

).

3. Remove all drives from the failed Node chassis (see 

Replacing a Node Hard Drive on page 74

).

Caution: 

You 

must

 note the number of each hard drive and temporarily label them before removal 

so that you can install each of them in the correct location in the replacement Node chassis.

4. Remove the following components from the failed Node chassis (for installation in the replacement 

Node chassis):

a. Power supplies (see 

Replacing a Node Power Supply on page 79

).

b. Cooling fan assembly (see 

Removing and Installing the Cooling Fan Assembly on page 179

).

c. Expansion card risers (see 

Replacing an Expansion Card in Riser 1 on page 98

 and 

Replacing an

d. Integrated storage controller card (see

shipping and can be discarded after removal.

5. Disconnect the mini SAS cable from the system board:

Caution: 

To avoid damaging the mini SAS cable and connector, follow the correct procedure 

when removing the mini SAS cable from the system board.

a. Push the mini SAS cable connector to slide it further into the connector (J_SASX8) on the system 

board (see 

Figure 87 on the next page

).

b. Press down and hold the metal tab on the mini SAS cable connector.

c. Pull the mini SAS cable out of the connector on the system board.
