Replacing the Node System Board

Wait for the command prompt to appear.
8. When prompted, type in the Dell service tag and press
<Enter>
. For example:
asset/s 9XQR1V1
The system prompts you to confirm that you want to write the service tag number.
9. Type
y
to continue.
10. Remove the USB drive and reboot the system.
11. Verify that the service tag number was successfully written using the Service Menu:
a. Access the
Service Menu

).
b. Navigate to
Serial Numbers > Display Node Serial Number
.
Updating the OEM ID
To update the OEM ID:
1. Connect to the system node via the iDRAC port and launch the Virtual Console Viewer (see
to the System Node Using the iDRAC Port on page 30
).
2. In the left pane of the iDRAC main console, click
Overview > iDRAC Settings > iDRAC Firmware
Update
.
3. Upload the
82DFV_R720_CustBSU.pm
file.
Wait for the iDRAC reboot to complete.
4. Reboot the system.
Wait for the system to complete one more self reboot before the updated BIOS splash logo displays.
Verifying iDRAC Settings
After replacing the system board, you must verify that certain iDRAC settings are set to the Quantum
required value, and make any changes as needed:
1. As the system boots, press
F2
to display the
System Setup Main Menu
.
2. Select
iDRAC Settings
and press
Enter>
.
3. Select
LifeCycle Controller
and press
Enter
.
4. Verify that the following two iDRAC settings are set to
Enabled
:
l
LifeCycle Controller
- Enabled
l
Collect System Inventory On Restart
- Enabled
5. Press
ESC
to return to the
iDRAC Settings Menu
.
6. Select
Network
and press
Enter
.
7. Verify that the following iDRAC setting is set to
Disabled
:
l
Enable IPMI Over LAN
- Disabled
8. Press
ESC
twice.
