IMPORTANT note regarding firmware upgrade procedure
After you send a firmware code file to the media adapter, the power indicator flashes
at a rate of about once a second while the media adapter decompresses the new
code and “burns” it into flash memory.
Do not turn the media adapter off while the
power indicator is flashing
. Wait until it restarts and show entry screen on your TV.
Depending on circumstances, a firmware upgrade can take from twenty-odd seconds
to quite a few minutes.
Status:
Shows the version number of the media adapter’s firmware code, the media
adapter’s MAC (medium access control) address (the “hardware address” that
identifies it on the local network), and its host name and domain name (optional
names that can be used to identify it on TCP/IP networks).
The first setting you may need to adjust is the display language of the media adapter
and the setup utility.
To change the display language
, move the pointer to
System
on the
command bar. A
Language
command will appear. Click
Language
, click the
option button for the language you prefer, and then click
Apply
.
A success message and a
Continue
button will appear. Click
Continue
.
If you need to switch the media adapter’s video output signal from PAL to NTSC or
vice versa, do so as follows:
1. Click System on the command bar.
A panel for adjusting video settings will appear.
This panel has four controls:
•
The
TV System
control switches the media adapter’s AV/S (that is,
composite, S-Video, and SCART) jacks between NTSC and PAL signal
formats.
•
The
TV Connection
control switches the media adapter between AV/S
and HDTV (component video) output signals. It has exactly the same
effect as the remote control’s
S-V/HDTV
button.
•
The
TV Resolution
and
Aspect Ratio
controls affect only HDTV
(component video) output. They have exactly the same effects as the
video output controls described under “Checking the Results,” above.
We assume here that the
TV Connection
control is set to
AV/S
and you are
(or will be) using a composite, S-Video, or SCART connection to your TV or
projector.
2. Click the button for the TV System option (PAL or NTSC) required for
your TV or projector.
A dot appears in the button for the setting currently selected.
