Step 3.

Remove the supply cassette bottom shield. Refer to Section 7, if necessary.

Step 4.

Using a flash light, check the beam steering mirror for dirt or imperfections.

Step 5.

While the beam steering mirror is in place, dampen the lens tissue with
99% pure alcohol and carefully wipe the front side of the mirror.

Step 6.

The beam steering mirror cleaning is now complete.

Step 7.

Run copy quality test and inspect image for artifacts.

6-3 Adjustable Clutch
The clutch is designed to exert constant tension and smooth media feed. The tension of the
adjustable clutch is set between 35 - 40 ounces at the factory. Before measuring or adjusting
the clutch, perform the following steps:

Step 1.

Output the PantherPro/46 "Customer Final Copy" test (PostScript file) and check for
banding and other copy quality issues. The "Final Customer Copy" test file is
available on the PrePRESS SOLUTIONS BBS.

Step 2.

If possible, locate the customer's original "Customer Final Copy" sample, which is
shipped with the PantherPro/46. Use this original sample as a "benchmark" and
compare it to the "Customer Final Copy" output produced in Step 1.

Step 3.

If the PantherPro/46 "Customer Final Copy" test (postscript file) output performed in
step 1 is not within "benchmark", proceed to section 6-3.1.

Note: Mark and save the output samples for future reference.
