CAUTION
: Improper Drive Belt alignment can cause unusual operating noises
and will eventually cause damage to the drive belt and/or the motor or roller pul-
ley hardware.
1. Switch the power
OFF
.
2. Remove the hood, see
"Hood Cover Replacement" on page 88
.
3. Make sure that the Drive Belt is aligned parallel to the left side frame rail. Measure the
drive belt-to-frame rail distance at the Drive Motor pulley and the Drive Roller pulley.
The Drive Belt is correctly aligned when the two measured distances are the same:
a. If the measurements are not the same. Use one hand to move the motor fly-
wheel which rotates the motor pulley and the other hand to move the drive belt
on the drive motor pulley to the left or right as needed to adjust the belt-to-frame
rail distance to match the drive roller pulley distance.
b. Move the motor flywheel to so that the drive belt moves several rotations
around the drive roller and drive motor pulleys. Verify that the drive belt is cor-
rectly seated in the drive motor and drive roller pulley groves. Then remeasure
the drive belt-to-frame rail distances and verify that the drive belt remains
aligned. If not, repeat procedure until the drive belt is properly aligned.
Drive Belt tension adjustment
4. Place the belt tension gauge onto the Drive Belt mid distance between the drive motor
and drive roller pulleys.
