Central door locking system
The central door locking system operates on
vacuum generated by the engine. A reservoir
allows the locking system to be actuated
about five times after the engine is turned
off. To reactivate the system, operate the
engine f o r a f e w seconds. Each individual
door lock can be operated manually when
there is no vacuum in the reservoir.
Always drive with locked doors to prevent
inadvertent opening of a door from the in-
side, especially with small children in the car.
With the central door locking system, both
driver and passenger doors can be locked or
unlocked simultaneously from the driver's
side. The car is safely locked when button
" A " is fully down on both d o o r s . If button
" A " of one door is not fully d o w n , open that
door again and close door firmly. To lock or
unlock both doors f r o m the outside, use
either the master or auxiliary key on the
driver's side. To lock or unlock both d o o r s
from the inside, turn handwheel " B " on the
driver's side.
Doors
To open doors from outside, pull the reces-
sed door handle.
To open doors from inside, pull the recessed
handle " C " above armrest.
The armrests have a built-in storage c o m -
partment. To open compartment, press knob
in hand cut-out and tilt armrest o u t w a r d . To
close, tilt compartment t o w a r d door panel.
Power windows - only w o r k w i t h ignition on.
To open or close the w i n d o w s , depress the
rocker switches in the center c o n s o l e in f r o n t
of the shift lever.
Caution: Remove the ignition key to shut off
power to the window switches when the
vehicle is not attended by a responsible
person.
Interior lights
The two interior lights operate independ-
ently from each other. The t w o lights have a
built-in rocker switch which is operated by
tilting the lamp lens. There are three lens
positions:
" a " - light on w i t h f r o n t d o o r s or luggage
compartment door open.
" b " - light off.
" c " - light remains on continuously.
