A.3 Measurements with the Depth Setting Standard
Position
To position the depth setting standard for measurements, proceed as follows:
1. Position the sensor head and the object support on a vibration-damped
table.
INFORMATION
Do not place moving parts on the vibration-damped table as the measurement
results could be affected or falsified.
2. Position the depth setting standard so that the AOI is aligned towards the
aperture of the light and is as parallel as possible to the object support.
The tip of the depth setting standard must point to the left and the
grooves must run vertically (refer to the following figure).
3. Start the TMS software and open the measurement window. Refer to your
TMS software manual.
The live video image is displayed in the measurement window.

4. If the image is too dark or too bright, adjust the exposure time as
described in your TMS software manual.
5. Set up the AOI as described in your TMS software manual. Position the
AOI in such a way that it includes the grooves and a strip of the reference
plane on the right and left (refer to the previous figure).
6. Set the sensor head to be at the right measurement distance for the depth
setting standard. To determine the precise measurement distance, you
need to find interferences.
7. Define the zero point at the position at which interferences occur. Refer to
your TMS software manual.
