3 First Steps

Cabling
WARNING!
Electric shock caused by connection to wrong power supply!
» Connect up the instruments only using a three-pin mains cable to AC
systems 50/60 Hz with a grounded protective conductor, and a nominal
voltage of between 100 V and 240 V.
ATTENTION!
Damage to the instrument caused by overvoltage!
» First of all, connect up all components as described in this chapter before
connecting the mains cable and switching on the instrument.
ATTENTION!
Damage to connections caused by bent contact pins!
All cables must be easy to plug in.
» Check the contact pins before plugging in the cables.
» Do not use any force when plugging in the cables.
» Replace defective cables with new cables.
» If necessary, contact your local Polytec representative.
In the following you will find a description of all necessary steps to connect up
the instrument. All the cabling is also shown in F
3.12. Secure the
connections accordingly.
If you have any problems connecting up the cables, contact your local Polytec
representative.

Connecting the Hardware
Peripheral
devices
1. Connect up the mouse, the keyboard, and the joystick to the back of the
industrial PC.
2. Plug the monitor cable into the DisplayPort jack on the monitor and into
the
DP3
Mini DisplayPort jack on the back of the industrial PC.
Industrial PC to
controller
3. Plug the yellow network cable (motor controller connection) into the
MOTOR
network connection on the back of the industrial PC and into the
ETHERNET
network connection on the back of the controller.
ATTENTION!
Impaired functionality caused by incorrect cabling!
» Solely use the USB 3.0 cable enabled by Polytec to connect the industrial
PC and the sensor head.

USB connection on the back of the

sensor head.
