Mains Outlet
•
The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.
•
This equipment relies on protective devices external to the equipment for
protection.
•
The maximum rating of the external over current protective device is 30A.
We recommend using the Clipsal 56 series switched outlet (see figure 2) for the Platypus
Controller, the screw in style connector prevents accidental disconnection and the
switch allows for locking in the “ON” position.

Switching loads greater than 12A
In cases where it is required to operate an electric motor greater than 2.8KW an external
contactor can be used. This would plug in to the mains outlet on the Platypus Controller and
would operate when the Platypus Controller activates the mains outlet.
A suitable contactor would have an operating coil voltage of 240 volts and a power rating of
9KW or more. This contactor would be hard wired to the motor and the motor AC supply.
