3.5 FIRE IN FLIGHT
3.5.1 SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT
If smoke and/or fumes are detected in the cabin, check the engine param-
eters for any sign of malfunction. If a fuel leak has occurred, actuation of
electrical components may cause a fire. If there is a strong smell of fuel in
the cockpit, divert to the nearest suitable landing field. Perform a Forced
Landing and shut down the fuel supply to the engine once a safe landing
is assured.
1 Temperature control knob COLD
2 Airflow direction knob FEET POSITION
3 Fan toggle switch ON
4 Cabin Air Selector ON
5 Door windows OPEN
If source of smoke and fume is firewall forward:
1 Cabin Air Selector OFF
2 Fan toggle switch OFF
3 Door windows AS REQUIRED
4 Land AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
If airflow is not sufficient to clear smoke or fumes from cabin:
1 Door windows OPEN
NOTE
:
Door structure/hinge is not designed for intentional open-door op-
erations. Be advised that the chances of door failure occuring increase, as
the speed, at which the door’s opened at, increases.
3.5.2 ENGINE FIRE IN FLIGHT
If an engine fire occurs during flight, do not attempt to restart the engine.
1 Fuel Selector OFF
2 Cabin Air Selector OFF
