Listening to your system
Important
• This unit’s audio function may be restricted
depending on the sound source, Line
Output setting (page 60), and HDMI audio
setting (page 68). In this event, the menus
may not appear, or a message may be
displayed instead (page 88).
Auto listening mode
The Auto listening mode is the simplest way to
listen to any source as it was mastered: the
output from the speakers mirrors the channels
in the source material.
• If you set up the system for Front surround
(page 8), the Front Stage Surround modes
will give the best results (page 29).

Press to select the Auto listening
mode.

• When playing stereo sources, the
STEREO
indicator will light. The

indicator will
light when playing a Dolby Surround sound
source.
Listening in surround sound
You can listen to stereo or multichannel
sources in surround sound. Surround sound is
generated from stereo sources using one of
the Dolby Pro Logic decoding modes.
• If you set up the system for Front surround
(page 8), the Front Stage Surround modes
will give the best results (page 29).

Press repeatedly to select a
listening mode.

Dolby Pro Logic II Music settings
When listening in Dolby Pro Logic II Music
mode (see above), there are three settings you
can adjust: Center Width, Dimension, and
Panorama.

Press when Dolby Pro Logic II Music
mode is active.

1 • If the source is Dolby Digital or DTS, the corresponding indicator lights in the front panel display.
• During 88.2 kHz/96 kHz source playback, the listening mode is fixed to
Auto
and cannot be changed.
