Interfaces
After mounting the VL PPC 3000, make any necessary
cable connections (see Figure 4).
The available connectors are:
–
Ethernet (ETH): Two RJ45 connectors allow the
computer to communicate on a 10/100/1000Base-T
Ethernet network.

Serial (COM): One serial port (D-SUB 9) allows
connection of serial devices. The port can be
configured to communicate on the RS-232, RS-422, or
RS-485 physical layer (see “Serial communication” on

PCI: Up to two optional slots are available for PCI cards
(see “Installing PCI cards” on page 12).

USB (USB): USB devices connect using Type A
connectors. The VL PPC 3000 has four USB ports:
three ports operate on version 1.1/2.0 and one port on
version 3.0.

DVI-D (DVI-D): This port connects the VL PPC 3000 to
an external display.
–
DP++ (DP++): This port connects the VL PPC 3000 to
an external display. Adapters are available to convert to
other video signal types (see “Accessories” on page 2).

Inclusion of the PCI slots must be made when the
product is ordered. Adding a PCI slot is not a field-
installable option.
