Assembly and initial operation
Do not operate your Petromax Gas Table if parts of it are defective or missing. It is impor-
tant to observe all the instructions in the section
Safety instructions and warnings
in this manual.
1. Insert the support legs into the slots of the Gas Table, tighten them using the clamping
levers and set up the Gas Table (Caution: the support legs can be inserted into the Gas
Table at different angles). Make sure that you choose an even, stable and fireproof
surface. Otherwise the long legs of the Gas Table could sink into the ground, making
the table stand unevenly. The Gas Table can also be used without support legs.
2. If you want to use your Gas Table with a windscreen, place the windscreen with the
hinges facing outwards and tighten it with the wing screws. Note: The tables can be
assembled and disassembled as often as required and stowed for transport or storage.
3. Now connect the gas cylinder as explained in the following section
Connecting the
gas cylinder
in this manual. Then you may cook and roast outdoors on your Petromax
Gas Table using Dutch Oven, Fire Skillet or similar cookware.
Instructions for connecting the gas supply – LP gas
Only approved gas may be used for the Petromax Gas Table.
Important information about the gas cylinder
The cylinder must always be installed, transported and stored upright. The gas cylinder
must never be dropped or handled carelessly. Never store the cylinder in a place exposed to
direct sunlight or in a place where the temperature could exceed 51°C (no longer touchable
by hand). Do not leave the gas cylinder in the car on warm days. See the section
Tips for
safe handling of LP gas
. Non-observance of the
safety instructions
can lead to a fire,
which in turn can cause material damage and serious or even fatal injuries.
NEVER store spare or unconnected gas cylinders under or near your Gas
Table. Non-compliance or neglect of this rule may result in property
damage, fire and/or serious or fatal injury.
Tips for safe handling of LP gas
• LP gas is a petrochemical product such as fuel and natural gas. It is gaseous at normal
temperatures and when pressurised. Under a certain pressure, e.g. in a gas cylinder,
the gas is liquid. When the pressure is reduced, the liquid evaporates immediately and
becomes gaseous.
• LP gas has a similar odour to natural gas due to an added odorous substance. Always
pay attention to this smell so that you can detect escaping gas in time.
• LP gas is heavier than air. Outflowing gas can collect in lower areas and therefore does
not spread.
• The cylinder must always be installed, transported and stored upright.
• Gas cylinders must not be dropped and must always be handled with care.
• Never store the gas cylinder in a place exposed to direct sunlight, or in a place where
the temperature could exceed 51°C (no longer touchable by hand). Do not leave the
gas cylinder in the car or in the blazing sun on warm days.
• Handle empty gas cylinders with the same care as full cylinders. Even if there is only
a residual amount
of gas in the gas cylinder, it is still pressurised gas in
the cylinder. Always close the valve on the gas cylinder first before you
disconnect the cylinder from the Gas Table.
• Do not use damaged gas cylinders. Dented or rusty gas cylinders or gas cylinders with
damaged valves are a hazard and must be replaced immediately with new cylinders.
• The hose connection on the gas cylinder must be checked for leaks each time the gas
cylinder is (re)connected to the Gas Table. Perform this check whenever the gas cylinder
is replaced.
Important safety measures before connecting the Gas Table
Follow the steps below before connecting the gas cylinder to the Petromax Gas Table.
1. Before connecting the gas cylinder, make sure that there are no sources of ignition
and/or open fire in immediate vicinity.
2. Make sure that it is the correct gas cylinder with the correct gas cylinder valve.
3. Make sure that the valve of the gas cylinder is closed (valve is closed by turning it
clockwise)
