6.7.  Start-up 

 

  

Observe the operating parameters defined in the Technical Specification. 

 

Observe the operating restrictions and safe working practices as defined 
by national and local regulations. 

 

In the event the vehicle needs to be restarted following an emergency or 
accidental  stop  utilising  one  of  the  emergency  stop  buttons,  repeat  the 
start-up procedures. 

 
 

  Ensure that all E-stops have been reset. 

  Ensure the Road / Rail mode switch is switched to Rail mode. 

  Ensure  that  the  road  wheels  are  in  line  with  the  track  and  the  steering  has 

been locked with the green LED illuminated.  

  Ensure the rail gear is correctly deployed with the green LED lights illuminated 

showing the rail gear is locked down. 

  Ensure that the transmission is in 4WD and the differential lock is not engaged. 

  If there is poor light conditions or reduced visibility switch the rail light switch to 

“ON” 

  Check  the  rear-view  CCTV  system  is  working  and  correctly  orientated.  See 

“CCTV” section of this manual. 

 

Connect  any  towed  or  propelled  trailers see  “Towing  &  Propelling”  section  of 
this manual.  
 
 

The vehicle is now ready to be driven on the track. 
Before  the  vehicle  is  manoeuvred  on  the  track,  the  following  procedure  should  be 
performed: 
 

  Removing  the  dummy  plug  from  the  marker  light  sockets  front  and  back  on 

the vehicle, check that the  break-away warning buzzer sounds at the driving 
position and that it ceases when the marker light board is plugged in. 

  Start the vehicle engine and check that the E-stops will stop the engine, front 

cab and passenger tub. Reset E-stops after tests. 

  Restart the engine, removing the orange dummy plug from the front personnel 

carrier E-stop connection, check that the engine stops. Re-insert after test. 

  Restart the engine. Make sure that all personnel are clear. Turn on the trailer 

brakes,  release  the  vehicle  hand  brake  and  check  that  all  the  connecting 
trailer  brakes  release.  Re-apply  the  hand  brake  and  check  that  the  trailer 
brakes are applied.
