Make a
fi
nal inspection of the installed Warmset mat system. Check that
all wiring is well connected. Con
fi
rm that all documentation is complete,
including the recommended photos. Most
fl
oor covering material can be
installed over a Warmset heating system.
Ceramic and stone tiles work best for radiant
fl
oor heat. These tiles conduct
heat well, and are not at risk of damage from heat.
Floating
fl
oors made from wood or plastic work well, but check with the
fl
ooring manufacturer to determine if your chosen
fl
ooring is compatible
with radiant heat. Flooring manufactuerers often limit the temperature to 84
degrees F (28º Celsius).
Vinyl
fl
ooring materials can also have similar temperature restrictions.
Some carpets or rugs can be laid over a heated
fl
oor, but they act as insulators
and will reduce heat-
fl
ow to the room. Check with the carpet manufactuerer
to con
fi
rm if the carpet is safe for heated
fl
oors.
Remember, to obtain maximum e
ff
ectiveness of Warmset mat systems, the
combined R-value of all
fl
oor coverings above Warmset mats should not ex-
ceed R-3. Higher R-rated products will reduce the heating e
ff
ectiveness and
e
ffi
ciency.
It is recommended that the
fl
oor covering be installed by a profes-
sional. Please note, this is not a structural or a
fl
oor covering manual
and is intended only for general guidance as it applies to the Warm-
set mats.
