Defrosting
Microwaves are excellent for defrosting frozen dishes . Microwaves ensure that frozen
dishes are gradually defrosted in a short time . This can be a great advantage if you receive
unexpected guests . Frozen poultry must be fully defrosted before preparation . Remove any
metal strips and take the product out of the packaging to allow moisture to drain off . Put the
frozen dish on a plate and do not cover it . Turn it over halfway through and drain any moisture .
Remove any organs as soon as possible . Check the dish now and then to ensure that it does
not become too warm . If smaller, thinner parts of the frozen dish become warm, you can
protect them by wrapping them in small pieces of aluminium foil . If the poultry becomes warm
on the outside, press STOP/CANCEL and let it stand for 20 minutes before continuing . Let
fish, meat and poultry stand to defrost further . The standing time for full defrosting depends
on the amount of food you want to defrost . Consult the table on the next page .
Tip:
Flat dishes defrost faster than thick ones, and small quantities take less time
than larger ones . Take this into consideration when you freeze the dish and
defrost it .
