WARMING UP
The microwave oven only needs a fraction of the time a traditional oven requires to warm up
dishes .
Dividing and covering
Avoid warming up large pieces of food . They may become overcooked and dry out before
they are warm enough inside . Warming up smaller pieces works better . If you cover dishes
during the warming up, you prevent them from drying out .
Power settings
Different power settings can be used to warm up dishes . In general it is advisable to use a low
power for delicate dishes or dishes which heat up fast, such as fruit pie .
Stirring
For best results, stir dishes thoroughly or turn them over during the warming up . If possible,
stir one more time before serving . Stirring is particularly important if you are warming up liquids .
Warming up and standing times
If you are warming up dishes for the first time, it is useful to note down the time required,
so that you can consult this in the future . Avoid overheating . If you are not sure about the
preparation time, it is better to use a short time . In that case you can always add extra time
if you need it . Always make sure that warmed up dishes are heated thoroughly .
Let dishes stand for a short while after warming up to ensure that the temperature is evenly
distributed . The recommended standing time after warming up is 2 - 4 minutes .
