3.1.3 Notes on Power Supply and Wiring
Turn off the power before wiring.
Use an Insulated Power Supply with a Built-in Protection Circuit
•
Be sure to use an isolated power supply with a built-in protection circuit to protect the PV310 from
abnormal voltage generated from the power supply lines.
•
Non-insulated power supply is used for the regulator of the PV310.
•
When using a power supply without a built-in protective circuit, be sure to supply power to the PV310
through protective elements such as fuses.
Turn the PV310 ON/OFF at the Primary Side
•
Turn the PV310 on/off at the primary side. If you turn the device on/off at the secondary side (24 V DC),
the fuses of the device may melt down.
Use a Power Supply Unit with Sufficient Capacity
•
When the power is turned on, the current far above the rated current temporarily flow. Use the power
supply unit with enough capacity (approx. three times). Check the operation of the PV310 when actually
turning the power on. If the PV310 does not function properly (READY signal is not output) when turning
on the power, immediately turn the device off.
Increase Resistance to Noise
•
Separate the wiring systems for the PV310, input devices, and output devices.
•
When there is a particular concern about noise coming from input/output circuits, it is recommended that
the power for the PV310 and for input/output should be separately supplied.
Consider the Electric Power Sequence
•
Consider the power supply sequence so that the power supply unit for the PV310 can be turned off before
the one for the input/output is turned off.
•
If you turn the input/output power off before turning the PV310 off, the device will detect a change in the
input signal level and may malfunction.
•
When turning the PV310 on again, wait at least 10 seconds.
About Momentary Power Interruptions
•
Less than 10 ms: Continues running.
•
Between 10 and 40 ms: The PV310 may continue running depending on the condition, the device may
reset itself, or the camera image capture may stop.
•
More than 40 ms: The PV310 will reset itself. When power is supplied again, the device will begin to
operate from its initial state.
