In the transmission phase the DSP generates the voice samples at 8 kHz towards
the CODEC; the samples are digitised on 13 significant bits and transmitted on a
dedicated DRS synchronous serial line with timings generated by the Time Base.
The CODEC reconstructs the audio analogue signal and supplies it to the audio
amplifier which reconditions it in power (8W max. in 4 Ohm, 125 mW max. in 25
Ohm) as a function of the signals coming from the micro.
The I/F AUDIO block is controlled in stand-by by the microcontroller.
2.3.1.6
Microcontroller
The microcontroller manages all the network digital processes and the internal
activities of the VS 2001 equipment. The processes managed by the
microcontroller may be resumed as follows:
•
TETRA protocol management from the Upper MAC sub-level up to the
Mobility Management and Call Control upper levels;
•
Co-management with control unit present on management terminal of the MMI
functions (in this configuration the user commands, keyboard and display are
located on peripherals connected to the Base Band through connector J02
and connector P01);
•
DTE
management;
•
Interface management towards the Firmware of Lower MAC resident on DSP;
•
Terminal identification management;
•
Management of the DSP operating programs download;
•
Management of the R/T and P.A. analogue cards functioning.
The microcontroller is also able to manage other functions by means of the
following devices:
•
1 asynchronous communication UART dedicated to peripheral DTE. The data
communication lines for reception and transmission operate in full-duplex
modality. The serial line is programmable with variable baud rates: 110, 300,
600, 1200, 2400, 9600, 14400, 19200, 28800, 38400, 57600 and 115200 with
1 start bit. This serial line is accessible through the rear connector P01. The
electrical levels of the signals are in compliance with standard RS232;
•
1 asynchronous communication UART of full-duplex type dedicated to the
connection with the management terminal for MMI functions control. This
serial line can be used, alternatively, for data exchange with peripheral DTE.
The serial line is programmable with baud rates of: 110, 300, 600, 1200, 2400,
9600, 14400, 19200, 28800, 38400, 57600 and 115200 with 1 start bit, 1 or 2
stop bits and possibly 1 parity check bit. This serial line is accessible through
the front connector J1. The electrical levels of the signals are in compliance
with standard RS232;
•
The micro controls a third asynchronous serial line integrated on Asic Time
Base. This serial line consists of two data communication lines for reception
and transmission in full duplex and is accessible through rear connector P01.
The electrical levels of the signals are in compliance with standard RS232;
