you can adjust it against the slight resistance of the threadlocker.
Readjusting the break unit after prolonged use
After a prolonged period of use, play may develop in the device which can
be readjusted using the Service Screw
(4B)
.
Turn the Service Screw by small steps to the left.
Carefully check whether the brake function of the device now suits the
patient's individual needs. If not, readjust the Service Screw again until
the correct setting has been found.
Note:
Always adjust the Service Screw
(4B)
carefully. Note that you can
adjust it against the slight resistance of the threadlocker.
Caution:
Flexion and extension must be possible at all settings.
Restoring the basic setting
If necessary, the basic setting of the device can be reset as follows:
Step 1: Carefully turn the Load Regulating Screw
(4A)
to the right until
a slight resistance is felt. Then turn the Load Regulating Screw two turns
back to the left.
Step 2: Carefully turn the Service Screw
(4B)
to the right until a slight
resistance is felt. Then turn the Service Screw three turns back to the left.
It must now be possible to flex the joint again.
Caution:
Flexion and extension must be possible at all settings.
Swing control
Adjusting the Extension Assist Spring
(Fig. 5)
:
Turn the Extension Spring Adjustment Screw (A) to the:
• right to increase the action of the Extension Spring.
• left to decrease the action of the Extension Spring.
Note:
Swing control is working only when using the device as a freely
movable joint with integrated Extension Spring (refer to the following
section:
Converting the Joint - From Locking to Mechanical
).
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
For laminated sockets
1. Laminate the Screw Insert in the desired position.
2. Fix the Cable Guide in the laminate.
3. Mount the Dual Function Lever on the Screw Insert.
4. Secure the Lever Fixation Screw with a medium strength threadlocker.
5. Guide the Nylon Cord through the Cable Guide.
6. Set the Dual Function Lever in the lower position.
7. Snap the Release Lever
(Fig. 4: C)
into the device.
8. Fix the Nylon Cord to the Release Lever on the device.
For plastic sockets
1. Drill a hole in the socket in the desired position and fix the Screw
Insert from the inside of the socket.
2. Mount the Dual Function Lever on the Screw Insert.
3. Secure the Lever Fixation Screw with a medium strength threadlocker.
4. Use the Guide Clips to determine where the Cable Guide will run.
5. Fix the Cable Guide in the Guide Clips.
6. Guide the Nylon Cord through the Cable Guide.
7. Set the Dual Function Lever in the lower position.
8. Snap the Release Lever
