PiP
Users can utilize a secondary scaler to create a Picture-in-Picture (PiP)/window insert on the top of the
main output display. When PiP is enabled, the main source becomes the background image. Sound is
only available from the main source and not from the PiP source.
6.4.1
PiP Rules
The PiP window is generated by a secondary scaler that is not as powerful as the main 4K scaler. For
this reason, there some rules regarding the PiP implementation that are outlined below.
6.4.1.1
PiP Source
The main(background) and PiP sources cannot come from the same input channel. The input channels
are identified by the button colours on the front panel.
Input Channel 1: SDI-1*
Input Channel 2: SDI-2 *
Input Channel 3: Display Port (DP)
Input Channel 4: HDMI-1, HDM-2, Streaming Video* and HDBT*
Input Channel 5: VGA, DVI, CV, RGB/YPbPr and HDMI-3
Input Channel 6: Test Pattern and LOGO
*not available on all models
For example, if the main is a 4K source on HDMI-1, the PiP cannot be from HDMI-2, IP Video or HDBT,
but it can come from: SDI-1, SDI-2, DP, DVI, VGA, CV, RGB/YPbPr, HDMI-3, Test Pattern or LOGO.
6.4.1.2
PiP Resolution
The maximum input resolution of the PIP source is limited to 2048x1080p. 1920x1200, 2560x1600,
3840,2160 and 4096x2160 are not valid PiP source resolutions.
PiP related operations are to be done during setup and not during live operation.
The reason for this is that the Pip and main processing circuitry share timing resources,
causing the main image to glitch when the PiP parameters change
