Chapter 7 Troubleshooting
If this instrument is visibly damaged, does not function as expected or is found to
have other irregularities during the inspection described in Chapter 3,
“Installation and Connection” and Chapter 4, “Inspection”, do not use this
instrument; contact Olympus. Some problems that appear to be malfunctions
may be correctable by referring to Section 7.1, “Troubleshooting guide”. If the
problem cannot be resolved by the described remedial action, stop using the
instrument and send it to Olympus for repair.
Never use the instrument if an abnormality is suspected. The
patient can be fatally or seriously injured.
7.1 Troubleshooting guide
Irregularity
description
Possible cause Solution
Power fails to
come on.
Power cord is not correctly
connected to this instrument
or the wall mains outlet.
Connect the power cord correctly.
A fuse has blown. Replace both fuses.
Wall mains outlet is not active. Turn ON the mains supply for the
wall mains outlet.
The lamp access cover is not
closed properly.
Close and lock the lamp access
cover.
The
endoscopic
image does not
appear on the
video monitor.
The switches on the rear or
front of the video monitor are
not set correctly.
Set the switches correctly as
described in the monitor’s instruction
manual.
The lamp(s) is broken. Replace the lamp(s) with a new one.
The endoscope is not
connected.
Connect the endoscope.
The video cable (Y/C cable or
BNC cable) is not connected.
Connect the video cable correctly.
Insufficient brightness setting Adjust the brightness.
Ancillary equipment is not
ON.
Turn the ancillary equipment ON.
The lamp selection lever is
not in the A or B position.
Set the lamp selection lever securely
on A or B.
