UV light (UV lamps)
CAUTION
• Be aware that UV light is an invisible risk for eyes and skin. Superficial eye damage and
burning of skin can occur with even brief exposure to UV light. Serious injuries can result
from prolonged exposure, especially if unshielded. Keep a distance of at least 1 m from UV
lamps when printing, to prevent eye and skin damage.
• Skin contact with the UV lamp bulbs must be avoided. When heated, compounds from the
skin can form permanent etching of the surface of the UV bulb. A contaminated bulb may fail
prematurely.
• The UV spectrum emitted by the machine consists of UVA (315–400 nm) and UVB (280 – 315
nm) light. Wear UV safety glasses (goggles) with side shields and lenses that block UVA and
UVB light (e.g. UVEX safety spectacles CBR 65).
• Wear appropriate clothing that protects the skin for UV light. Gloves and long-sleeved work
clothes are essential to reduce skins exposure to UV light emission.
• UV lamps operate at high temperature. Never touch these lamps in operation. Let the lamps
cool for a minimum of five minutes before attempting any maintenance.
• Use extreme care in handling the UV lamp bulbs. These UV bulbs contain a small amount of
mercury (Hg) which is toxic. Therefore, if bulbs are broken, care should be taken to clean up
the spill immediately, and then dispose of according local regulations concerning mercury
disposal.
• Avoid staring directly into the UV lamp.
• As a UV lamp warms up, it briefly passes through a section of the light spectrum which
excites oxygen molecules enough to create ozone. Once a UV lamp has completely warmed
up, only very minute amounts of ozone are present. A high concentration of ozone can cause
irritation, headaches or nausea. Provide adequate ventilation as indicated in the related
Product Safety Data Sheet (PSDS) of the printer.
Disposal of parts
WARNING
• All parts are produced according to the sustainability policy of Océ. You can discard all used
parts into a common dustbin, or follow your local or national sustainability and waste
disposal procedures.
Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)
CAUTION
• Do not touch or ingest fluids from a broken Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). When clothes or
skin come into contact with the fluid, immediately clean the clothes and skin with soap and
water. After eye contact, immediately rinse the eyes with a washing lotion for at least 15
minutes and consult a physician.
• Do not rub, press or touch the (LCD) display surface with hard material, because the polarizer
at the surface can be easily scratched. The LCD module can get damaged when you drop,
pinch too hard or punch the module, as it is made of glass. When glass breaks, be careful you
do not get injured by pieces of glass. Then call Customer Service.
