UV ink
CAUTION
• UV inks and flush liquids can be harmful if not properly handled. Follow always the Safety
Data Sheets (SDS) guidelines carefully in order to ensure maximum safety.
• Avoid skin contact with ink and uncured printed media.
• Wear specified safety glasses when handling inks or maintenance materials.
• Wear gloves when contact with ink or maintenance materials is possible. Follow the ink
related Safety Data Sheets (SDS) guidelines carefully in order to ensure maximum safety. For
example use Ansell Microflex 93-260 gloves, which offer a protection against UV inks and
flush liquids up to one hour. Pollution with other chemicals can shorten the protection time
against UV inks and flush liquids.
• Do not reuse single-use gloves.
• Do not handle prints without gloves if the ink is not properly cured.
• If ink contacts your skin: clean immediately with soap and water. Do not use alcohol or other
solvents.
• If ink contacts your eye(s) flush with water, consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and contact
a doctor.
• Inks are not suitable for food-related or children-related applications (e.g. plates, toys).
• Always measure the thickness of the media in use and set the print carriage height correctly
for that media. Avoid printing at a height greater than measured as this causes excessive
emissions of UV-light and UV-ink (mist).
• All waste containing uncured or partly cured UV ink is hazardous and must be disposed of
separately according to local regulations. Do not mix ink waste with non-hazardous waste
(household, office, etc.). Do not allow it to reach sewage systems or drinking water supplies.
Ink waste includes maintenance pads and cloths, gloves and any other material containing
uncured or partly cured UV ink. Disposal must be made according to all federal, state and
local applicable regulations.
• Waste ink must not be disposed together with household rubbish. Do not allow the ink to
reach the sewage system. Dispose of waste ink and packaging containing ink residues
according to all federal, state and local applicable regulations.
