3.5.2 Connecting cameras
Prior to using IP cameras with NVR for the first time, initial setup for IP cameras is necessary. Before
you connect the IP cameras to the NVR, please set up network and stream parameters of IP cameras
using computer.
NOTE : Please note that the recorder uses a separate IP addresses for the devices connected to the
built-in PoE switch and other devices connected through LAN port 1000 Mbit/s.
The name of the network adapter in the system labeled LAN port is addressing 1000Mbit/s interface.
LAN2 name is the address of the device connected to the built-in PoE switch.
For example you plan to connect 16 cameras to NVR-3416. 8 Cameras will be connected to directly to
PoE ports and rest 8 cameras will be connected to 1000Mbit port using switch.
Check the IP configuration open NVR MAIN MENU and click on SYSTEM
button. Then select
NETWORK
button.
For 1000Mbit interface select
LAN
in
Network Card Type
you can leave default IP address
192.168.1.100 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Than change the
Network Card Type
to
LAN2
to set IP
address for PoE interface. You could leave the default IP 192.168.2.88 netmask 255.255.255.0. If you
plan to use your network configurations remember that
LAN
and
LAN2
IP subnets must be different.
To configure IP cameras we recommend to use PC computer. Configure PC network IP address from
1000Mbit interface pool (could be 192.168.1.50) and connect it to a switch connected to 1000Mbit
interface. Than connect camera to switch and power camera up. Login to camera (default IP address for
NOVUS camera 192.168.1.200, user/password : root/pass) and change the IP address for camera to
mach PoE interface subnet 192.168.2.x (for example 192.168.2.101). Then disconnect camera from
switch and connect it to PoE interface in NVR. Change the IP addresses for next cameras using above
procedure. Remember that IP address must unique. For cameras connected to 1000Mbit switch change
connect cameras one-by one and change the addresses for 192.168.1.x poll.
After changing the addresses for all cameras and connected them to switch and PoE interfaces proceed
to configure NVR.
