2.6 VGM NION Operation
The VGM NION reports events received from the Vista Gateway Module to the Workstation. The NION uses a
subnode to distinguish the VGM/Vista panel in the system. The subnode is always equal to the NION number plus
1. In Figure 2-5, the NION is node 005, and the panel is displayed as subnode 006. The VGM NION is also
capable of arming and disarming Vista panel partitions (eight possible for each panel).

Left click on the VGM entry in the hierarchy, and the corresponding properties for that module will be displayed in
the right window of the Explorer screen. Fields with an asterisk are editable.
Status
- The status field displays whether the VGM is online or offline.
keypad address
- This is a custom defined field (from 1 - 30) that identifies where the Vista Gateway Module is
physically connected on the Vista panel. This value must match the address of the pertinent Vista Gateway Module
keypad.
This parameter must be property configured before the VGM NION will function.
user ID
- This is a custom defined field ranging from 2 to 150 that identifies the Vista user ID used at the VGM
NION. This ID must have the proper access permissions to perform commands available at the NION. The user
ID must match the ID programmed at the panel for the system to work.
neuron ID
- This is a static field that displays the serial number of the Vista Gateway Module software chip.
There are four functional buttons at the top of the VGM Explorer main screen:
Update
- This button sends out edits made to the appropriate panel.
Undo
- This button will cancel all pending updates. All edits (noted in the green font) will be lost.
Exit
- This button closes the VGM Explorer.
Send To Back/Stay On Top
- This button toggles between keeping the Explorer window on top
when other tasks are running on the PC, or sending the Explorer window to the background while other
tasks are running. When Stay On Top is chosen, the VGM Explorer will remain on top regardless of new
events coming in.
The bottom bar of the Explorer displays the
