PWR key

Turning the system

on and off

Pressing the

PWR

key turns the 961/962 (the control head or

heads and the processor) on and off.

Turning the system on

To turn the 961/962 on:

1. Press the

PWR

key.

After several minutes, the

INITIAL STARTUP

screen

appears, which is displayed for about five to ten seconds.

Initial startup screen

After the

INITIAL STARTUP

screen, the

SYSTEM TEST

screen is displayed for about 10 seconds. After the

SYSTEM TEST

screen, the

OWNER’S MESSAGE

screen

is displayed for about 10 seconds. To create a personal

owner’s message, such as the name of the vessel and its

owner, see “System security” starting on page 13-7. After

the

OWNER’S MESSAGE

screen is displayed, the

ADVISORY MESSAGE

screen is displayed, warning you

not to rely solely on chart cartography for safe navigation.
