Connecting to the Ethernet Network

Prior to connecting the CMTS 1000 to the Ethernet network, perform the
following checks to verify that you have the correct connection available.

• If connection will be made to a 10Base-T hub, switch or router (concen-

trator), you should have a standard (straight through) eight-pin RJ-45
modular jack connectorized patch cable. If connection is made directly to
a PC or workstation network interface card (NIC), you should have a
crossover eight-pin RJ-45 modular jack connectorized patch cable.
