Symbols

The following international symbols appear in this book when you must
perform procedures requiring proximity to electric current.

Caution - You risk damaging your equipment if you do not heed the
instructions.

Warning - Hazardous voltages are present. To lessen the risk of electrical
shock and danger to personal health, follow the instructions carefully.

Modifications to Equipment

Do not make mechanical or electrical modifications to the equipment. The
CMTS 1000 may not meet regulatory compliance, if modified.

Placement of the CMTS 1000

Caution - To ensure reliable operation of the CMTS 1000 and to protect it
from overheating, openings in the equipment must not be blocked or cov-
ered. The CMTS 1000 should never be placed near a radiator or heat
register.

Power Cord Connection

Warning - The CMTS 1000 is designed to work with single-phase power
systems, having a grounded neutral conductor. To reduce the risk of electri-
cal shock, do not plug the CMTS 1000 into any other type of power sys-
tem. Contact your facilities manager or certified electrician if you are not
sure what type of power is supplied to your location.
