Editing Parameters

Editing System Options Parameters
If necessary, you can edit the system options for the Voice Mail
System. You really shouldn't change the default values unless
advised by the Voice Mail dealer or manufacturer.
To edit System Options:
1. Start up the System Configuration Management Program (see
Chapter 1).
2. From the Main Menu, type O and press Enter.
The system prompts with the following fields.

Hang-up timer
The Hang-up timer is the amount of time that the Voice Mail must stay
on hook in order for the phone system to recognize the time interval as
a “Hang up” instead of a Flash.

It is recommended that you enter a value equal to three times the
Flash value (see flashtm in Global Parameters).

First Trunk equipment # / Trunk mailbox offset
(Applies only to some phone systems.)
This field is only needed if Trunk and Subscriber Mailboxes will
overlap. The Trunk mailbox offset number is a number that, when
added to the trunk numbers, takes the trunk numbers outside the range
of extension numbers. Once you do this, you must use the new trunk
numbers to create the Trunk Mailbox numbers.

Transfer String
This is the string of codes that the Voice Mail dials to transfer a call to
an extension.

- Flash
W - Wait for dial tone
S - Wait for any type of sound
P - Pause (Pauses 2 sec, dials next digit)
M - Monitored pause (Pauses 2 sec, dials next digit if no
busy/reorder tone; otherwise ends call.)
A - Analyzed pause (Pauses 2 sec, dials next digit if no
busy/reorder tone; otherwise, ends call.)
