What Does the System Configuration Management Program Do?
The System Configuration Management Program modifies the Voice
Mail call and tone parameters so that the Voice Mail System will
successfully integrate with your phone system. More specifically, the
program does the following:
Allows you to use a learn procedure so the the Voice Mail
recognizes the tone. The Learn procedure scans a tone's attributes
and stores them in the tone database.
Edits tone attributes.
Allows you to modify various Voice Mail System parameters.
Required Setup
The Voice Mail System must be connected to your phone system.
See the Setup Guide for details.
You must connect the Voice Mail System to a laptop or an RS-232-C
terminal (ANSI or VT100 terminal). You will also need a null
modem RS-232 cable if you are connecting to a laptop, or a
straight-through cable if you are connecting to a terminal. Use
Procomm Plus or any standard communications software package
to establish communication with the RS232 port on the Voice
Mail.
When to Use the System Configuration Management Program
You will need to use the System Configuration Management Program
if the Voice Mail does not understand tones generated by your phone
system. This is indicated by calls not being processed correctly (e.g.,
the Voice Mail does not transfer calls). Your Technical Support will
instruct you to run the System Configuration Management Program
and will work with you during this process.
You will also need to use this program to change some of the
operating parameters of your Voice Mail. Again, Technical Support
will assist you if need to change any parameters. Finally, you will use
the System Configuration Management Program to modify several
system parameters that you cannot program from a System
Administrator’s Mailbox. Two of these parameters are: Time-out
Seconds and Conversation Record Beep. (See CmdInputTimeOut
and ConRecordBeep in Editing Call Parameters in Chapter 3.)
