UNDERSTANDING AUTONOMY
The Nilfisk Liberty SC50 can function autonomously meaning that it functions (operates) on its own, on a plan determined by an operator without
further operator involvement. The machine can record an area to clean independently and actively maneuver around certain obstacles.
Components that make up the Autonomy system, and their basic function, include the following
(shown in Figure 1-1)
:
• 3-D Vision Sensor
(45)
- provides a three-dimensional image of the area in front of the machine.
• 2D Mapping Sensor
(14)
- provides detection of obstacles in front of and to the left of the machine.
• Drop-Off Sensor
(16)
- detect drop-offs, or major changes in floor elevation.
• Safety Sensor
(17)
- located at front corners of machine – aides in collision prevention and presence detection in the area of an
operating machine.
• Autonomous Controller
(46)
. This is the primary computer for safety during operation.*
• Computer software Interface, (not shown). Defines how the autonomous control system interfaces with machine control software and
control system.
