Note: The monitor pulse oximeter is calibrated to read oxyhe moglobin sat-
uration (%SpO
2
) of functional hemoglobin. Significant levels of
dysfunctional hemoglobins (for example) carboxyhemoglobin, methe-
moglobin) may affect the accuracy of the monitor. Indocyanine green,
methylene blue, and other intra-vascular dyes, depending upon their
con centrations, may interfere with the accuracy of the monitor.
Instrument perfor mance may also be compromised by exces sive pa-
tient movement, electrosurgical interference, or intense environmen-
tal illumination.
