Setting a Password on BIOS SETUP Utility
8.1.1.
Security Password for BIOS SETUP Utility
If you set a password, all users must enter the password for the following operations:
Starting BIOS SETUP Utility
Starting system (configurable).
You can also limit the items and settings available to users starting the BIOS SETUP Utility with the
user password. This can prohibit users from changing important items if they are not the
administrator of ShieldPRO.
To set the password, see "6.4.1.3 Set supervisor password".
8.1.2.
HDD Password
If a HDD password is set, the password must be entered if the HDD is installed in another PC.
The HDD password is intended to prevent the HDD from being used illegally in a PC other than the
ShieldPRO supplied. Even if a HDD password is set, entering the password is not required on booting your
own ShieldPRO.
There are two HDD passwords; HDD master and HDD user passwords.
The HDD master password is required to release the HDD user password.
The HDD user password authenticates your PC and the HDD installed in the PC.
For the setting procedure, see "6.4.1.8 HardDisk security ".
