WARNING
Before removing the system unit cover, turn off the power
and unplug the system power cable. Power is removed only
when the power cable is unplugged.
4.
If the cartridge has a cooling fan, label and unplug the cooling fan cable
from its connector on the system board.
5.
Locate the processor socket on the system board.

CAUTION
Before picking up the processor, reduce static discharge by
touching the metal frame of the system unit.
6.
Remove the heat sink support top bar from the support pins on the system
board (see following figure).
7.
Press in on the CPU locking tabs (see the following figure).
8.
Carefully slide the processor subsystem out of the retention mechanism.

9.
Store the cartridge in an antistatic bag.
10.
Install the upgrade processor (see “Installing the Pentium II Processor
Cartridge”).
